Ipad and ART USB Dual Pre question

Post by Hutchpat »

The ad for this unit mentions a CD with software installation. Do I actually need this, and if so, can I get it onto the ipad via Dropbox or ITunes or something similar?

No, you do not need drivers. Just the camera kit, and a usb cable.

It is usb 1.1 compliant. This makes me wonder if it is totally compatible on an iOS device though.

You will probably have to use the 9volt battery or an external 12volt wall wart for use with an iOS device. Especially if you're going to use the phantom power.

Let us know how it works for you. It may help others in the future.
iPad Air, Akai EIE (the red one), Griffin Studioconnect, Alesis IO Dock, Blue Yeti mic.

I have one. All that's needed is what i listed above(plus mic of choice, cable etc) unless you need phantom power...then you will need a battery.
It works great for me with an ipad2, and condenser mic's, or a direct instrument(guitar, or bass).
I do not need a powered usb hub.
It is poorly sheilded though....keep instrument/mic cables from being on or under it...do not coil them around etc. or it will buzz, and hum. If you can do that you should be fairly happy.
16bit only.
