Background Feedback on iPhone

Post by fiona19 »

I have just started using multitrack daw on my iPhone to record acoustic voice and piano, and am getting a lot of feedback in the background (a constant hissing sound). I have disabled the input monitor as suggested in the help window, but it still seems to be an issue. I tried with headphones and without. How do I set up my iPhone properly to eliminate feedback/ background hum?
Thanks!

Welcome fiona19,

Yes, if you're going to use the built in speaker you must absolutely have input monitoring turned off for recording. But about the background noise issue, it sounds like it might be the internal compressors/eq that Apple uses. You can turn it off for multitrack in the Settings app, you should try this. Close multitrack and open the Settings app, go to MultiTrack -> Measurement Mode -> ON. With it ON, the default apple processing will be turned off, so that quiet passages remain quiet and dynamics are not lost.
