Nice app pwnified- I have an Iphone 4s and was wondering if the first post list of input devices has been or could be updated- there may be some new devices out there. Just looking for a good stereo input connector that will work.

would be nice to record 2 channels at the same time- which input device would show as 2 different tracks

Thanks!

I am working on finding this out... my camera connection to USB kit is in the mail now, and as soon as I get it I will run it through it's paces and report back. Believe me, I am feeling a fair amount of anxiety about this, but from what I've read elsewhere I am cautiously optimistic!

Yes, the lightning version works basically the same way as the CCK for older iPads. No need to be worried :D

Good afternoon all. I just love this app - great job!

Just a note to say that I picked up a Roland Octa-Capture audio interface today (primarily for my PC/Reaper use) but was hoping I would be able to use it with MT. My first attemp earned me the " not compatible" message. I will try again with a powered USB hub as suggested here and let you know.

Thanks again!

Hey guys,

A quick review of input devices I've tested:

Irig Mic: Works fine, however terrible hiss is present, due to going through the headphone jack?

Irig Pre: Same status as Irig Mic (too bad as this sounded exciting).

Tascam IM2: Works with a good balanced sound. Ultimate portability here, however the specs for it are listed as 16-bit recording. Not sure if that was published because it was released during a time where ios could only do 16-bit. Emailed them about that with no reply.. Note that this unit also only provides monitoring through the ios device when you've connected headphones without a microphone, meaning you can't use a headset to monitor.

Focusrite Itrack solo: Works with an awesome sounding preamp, however, the unit does require an external power supply, which isn't what you'd want mobile recording. You could use an external usb battery to power it, but then again that's another thing to carry in the bag. Also, the unit itself is quite heavy! This is a great unit if you're doing recording in a fixed indoor environment.

Apogee MIC: Best of the lot. VERY good sound with no preamp noise. Also supports 24 bit. Also very light and portable. A quick note, you can't charge your device when using the MIC. I found it drains an iphone 4 battery in 2-3 hours, yet it hardly touches the battery of an ipad 2, seems with the ipad you can go on for a very very long time!

Still on the lookout for a economic solution that provides 24 bit and portability with enough gain to power some of my favorite dynamic mics. Any recommendations?

On a side note, this is the absolute BEST recording APP ever. I've tried them all. This is the only one that provides 24 bit and the lowest true buffer size for monitoring. Cheers to the developers!

Hi,
I'm using an iRiffport, which is a mono device.
When in MT DAW, without the iRiffport plugged in, the input shows mono, then when I plug in the iRiffport, MT DAW detects it, and switches to stereo input, so when I record, I only get something in the left channel.
What do I need to do to record in Mono with the iRiffport?

Thanks!

Yup, got my Lightning adapter, tried it out, works fantastically! For those who are interested, I have it connected to a Korg Pandora PX5B guitar & bass processor. Nice clean sound into the iPad in mono or stereo, and one thing they don't really draw attention to... it has a stereo Aux pass-through straight to the USB port. Hook my mixer up in stereo and run straight into DAW... Wow! :D

Thanks all for the updates (and the kind words!)

@iPadawan, if the iRiffPort is a mono device, but shows up as stereo, you can use the "Source" button to select the first mono channel and all should be good.

Reporting back on the compatibility of the Roland Octa-Capture with MT after buying a powered USB hub - no luck :(

Now I must confess that I am not the most technically savvy guy on the block but the powered hub seemed pretty straightforward...

I will continue with my jam connection - which is excellent - until I come upon a suitable alternative that allows more than one input. I do have the Roland Quad on the way which is the new issue of a device that previously was compatible so I am hoping that will be the ticket.

As a side note I ordered the Quad after having such good luck with the Octa-Capture working with Reaper. I am very pleased. My other Mac based gear is Motu and I have always thought it to be very good - the Roland has really surprised me - very nice.
