I believe you can import WAV and convert to mp3 via a free program called Audacity on the PC.... Prhaps a little clunky, but free and works...

I master all my studio work to WAV, if someone needs the mp3, I convert and send that way.

Sill would be cool to just tap a button and email ideas strait from the DAW.

Sorry for bringing this up again. I'm just curious if the .mp3 export request is still not happening. I love the app, but being a voice-over actor every agency requires castings or even production audios in .mp3 so I can not really benefit from the portable aspect of my MultitrackDAW+Apogee Mic since I have to zip the file, send it to dropbox, donwload it in my PC, unzip it, edit the .wav and save it as .mp3 in another DAW like Adobe Audition.

Is there any other approach of any future for the .mp3 export feautre?

Thanks again for the great app

Welcome camaney,

Actually after all this time there is hope on the horizon =) The patents on the encumbered mp3 format are set to expire, and we can maybe just start using it without fear of the patent trolls. There's still some debate on exactly when the remaining patent becomes fully public domain, but it's possible it could happen this year. (Wikipedia lists it as expiring Dec 30, 2017) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3

I would definitely support an .mp3 add on.
Other indegenious-to-MTD add ons that I would also al a-cart pay for “Not-too-expensive, but what one would expect” are:

Additional 5 band EQ
Desser

If acquired by external person/plug-in creator - $1-2.00 for use (to licensor/creator) and .99cents to harmonicdawg (for overhead, profit, keeping it compatible within app) if that’s even feasible.

I understand that is kind-of taking a page from the AE-“Audio Evolution” iOS app, but after trying it out, I revert back to old faithful/MTD & still prefer the simple functionality and dependability. All I could think of when I tested the indegenious add-ons in AE was that MTD would dominate 2018 if it had this type of add-ons (regardless for plug-in brand/maker). Just a thought..like to hear what other MTD users think about it..

Or-if taking the eq that is already built in MTD and adding a second option to add another one independently to each track to follow in chain after comp/EQ? Would that be a cheaper/easier/more feasible option from the developer perspective? I have no clue of course but would like to think what others think about the idea.

I only mention because using external IAA is sooooo hit and miss and a single ios update on either end can render it useless in certain programs.

I have 3 full scale DAWs with add-ons...etc and over 20 effect apps for IAA & Multitrack DAW is stil my go-to for recordings, but post recording/mixing/mastering with IAA is unreliable & over time IAA is becomes a money pit (if it quits working, try another that’s still compatible) and can go from amazing-hero-to-useless-zero quickly. 3 effect plug ins that all do the same thing, yet find myself rotating them at every ios or app update “now this one doesn’t work, but this one that caused glitches, now works” and vice versa.

I would definitely vote for more indigenous add-ons, because that tells me the developer will incorporate & test functionality in iOS & App updates. May take more time and consideration/testing with updates but if the price calculates $ back to you/developer can cover the overhead (not sure if that makes sense) but hopefully get the gist of what I mean.

On a separate note: One could argue that MTD is only updated once/twice a year, but i can easily attest and argue that it’s dependability is hands-down the best (by miles!) - IT WORKS AND NEVER BREAKS DOWN! Any glitches are patched ASAP, & those are also rare. No other iOS daw has that kind of dependability & it’s the reason why it’s still one of the best and top rated (the best in my book).

Looking forward to the next update!
Damon

Thanks for the kind words, and glad it's still stable for you! Yeah it's a pain in the ass sometimes, things always getting broken by a certain company. I was thinking of adding more effects but considering making them IAA purchase 'extension' apps, which would use IAA and make them compatible with other daws. However, you are right about IAA always being broken and flakey, it's been like this since the beginning and I have a feeling it's never going to be stable. Maybe an effect update should have both? Built-in intrinsic effects that are stable, and duplicated into IAA wrappers as well? The first effects I was considering was a really good multiband compressor and limiter, but thanks for the other ideas!

BTW the next release has native mp3 encoding using Lame, with a command line in the Settings app for encoding options :)

I would love be to see a dynamic eq. Such a useful and underrated tool and if there were mid/side options with sidechain that would be stunning.

Just a thought.

So is there an mp3 file export option available now? It's not in the export options menu of my app and I think I have the latest version. Do I need to change settings somewhere?

Really love this app, especially the direct export to Soundcloud, but for universal accessibility, I need to export mp3 files. Happy to purchase that capability if necessary.

Thanks and please keep up your great work with this app!
