On the Bounce section of the Help file, it says a bit about mixing the selected regions in 32 bits and then normalizing if it clipped 16bits.

Does this still happen?
Can you explain a bit why it is done?
And, does this happen somewhere else in the signal process?

yes, if a songs format is 16 bit, mixing happens in a 32 bit space. 24 bit projects get a 64 bit space for mixing, this is because fixed point is used at some places internally. Normalization occurs to bring up quiet regions (if it's louder than 1/4 full scale), and to reduce the volume if it would clip full scale. Since the full scale is 16 bits for 16 bit projects, the volume must be brought down so it won't clip FS. Also, since the bit width is being reduced down to 16 bits, Dithering must be done to avoid quantization error. This happens transparently in multitrack for 16 bit projects, at every point where a volume control or any other signal processing occurs.

Loving the update but when will we be seeing automation implemented?
