Just a Little Bit More

I've been fiddling with this song for quite some time; although, it doesn't sound that way. I put the beat loops together in BeatMaker 1 a few years ago and added the guitars in AmpKit. I returned to it with some simple piano in GarageBand not too long after. After another year or so, I finally "finished" it in MultiTrack with vocals through AmpliTube and a synth from Animoog both via AudioBus. After all these years, I still like a sleazy lyric.

It's a great tune with a really funky arrangement. How did you get that bass sound?

Thank you so much. It's a real Fender P bass plugged in to AmpKit. I don't remember the amp (it was a couple of years ago) but I must have used their Juicer compressor, probably too much of it to be honest. It took me quite some time using MultiTrack's EQ to get a sound I could live with (low cut set at 50 hz, -9 at 70 hz with a Q of 5.9; a high cut at 10 khs, a 4.2 db boost at 0.45 kHz with a Q of 2.8). On MultiTrack's compressor, I dialed in about 11:00 on the threshold and about 1:00 on the ratio, 20 ms on the attack and 141 ms on the release to give it some punch. Bass is the most difficult instrument for me to mix, even with the bass amps in Bias. I work on music mostly at night, so mic'ing amps is out. Maybe someday I'll put some sound treatment in my little studio, but I'm winging it with my low budget monitors, headphones, earbuds, home stereo, and car stereo for checking mixes. Sorry for the long-winded response, but I'm usually the one asking questions on these forums. I gave an answer that I would want to get had I asked.

Again, thanks for listening.
