Wonder if this will work with a zoom r16 that would be sweet

Hello. Can you use a larger tascam device than the tascam us-800 with iPad? I was looking at it and I'd like to have more xlr inputs than just six. I'm sure I can find a larger version for that. It would be incredible to use with recording band... You guys just keep making the iPad more volatile all the time! Perhaps soon iPad will be used in professional studios.

does this mean that phantom power, along with powering the unit, will all come from the iPad!?!? or should we also think about the splitter usb solution to get enough power?

my personal dream: being able to record multi-track using 12V power on a boat, seemingly soon to be realized...amazing!

So far the US-800 is the only known USB desktop interface from Tascam, to work with the iPad. Keith tried the US-1800 and got the "not supported" message from iOS.

The US-800 has it's own fairly hefty power supply, and can't be bus powered. It's rated at 5 volts 2 amps (it must use a flyback transformer because it's very light), this is above a USB bus power limit and very much higher than the iPad limit.

So far, no. The Tascam US-800 is the only known interface that supports the 8 inputs.
