Upgrading iphone - importing projects

Post by yep »

Is there any other way to get projects into a new iphone than to export them from the old phone & import them to the new one via WiFi? It takes a really long time for each project.

That said, the feature to export/import is great - just wondering if a there is a way via a program like iphoneexplorer or box.net to do more quickly - it's taking 20+ mins/project for me each way.

Thx

Yes. But it's a little involved, and you must be careful. Using iExplorer, open the preferences, and turn on "Show hidden files and folders":

Now when you browse your device with iExplorer, you will see the folder structure:

You can drag your song folders out onto your desktop on your computer, and then drag them back into the same folder structure on the new device. Once on your desktop, you can also rename the song folder to something else and then drag it back to the new device. Make sure the name doesn't clash with a song folder name already on the new device.

Do not touch any other files or folders other than the song folders in the hidden directory. There are a couple other files in that directory (images, scripts, and session.plist) that need to stay there and not be touched.

Do not use iExplorer to delete song folders or rename them! It is recommended that you use the icon touch-hold method to delete songs from a device or rename them from within multitrack, or the Wi-Fi interface in a browser. This will properly clean up the cache files and free up space on your device properly.

Please be careful when accessing the raw folder structure of the device, and make sure to backup your device beforehand in iTunes just in case.
