Potentially dumb camera connector question
Is there a risk to the iPad when using the camera connector in conjunction with a USB interface? Like overloading it and burning out the port? I really want to try this with my Tascam US122, but I don't want to turn my iPad into a $600 paperweight.

There is no risk because a warning will pop up, and disable the port when more than 100ma of current is drawn. So it's safe to try all your devices, but if you know for a fact that a device uses more than 100ma you will need that powered usb hub though.
