AmpKit Link for Things other than Guitar

Is it possible to use the AmpKit Link for recording things, like vocals, that arent guitar as long as it has the 1/4" plug? I don't know why it would be a problem but i can never tell with these types of things... and is it completely compatible with the ipad 2? Id rather not have to buy the Camera Connection kit and an audio interface...

It's a high impedance input, which should work for most unpowered mics. They work with any idevice, but have a small amount of crosstalk and are mono only.
