I don't know which forum to post this in, but I just want to rant on how great this app is and my first experience with it.
First let me say I am using MTDaw on a 5th gen iPod Touch using internal mic. I recorded this show holding the ipod by my side in my hand. Once I process everything, I will post a song.
I used this app last night to record a live concert. I set it up to use measurement mode to control the gain because I was recording from the crowd in a small bar with big speakers. The first band goes on, I set up the levels and start recording. The level meter is in the normal range, no peaking at all. Second band goes on, same thing. Main band goes on (for those who care, it was the Spring Heeled Jack/King Django/Vic Rugerio show in New Haven CT).
I start recording. After about 20 minutes, I unlock my ipod to check out the recording. The app crashes out! I'm bummed because some of my favorite songs are now lost
I start up recoding again, catch the last 25 minutes of their set.
Now the next morning, I sync my ipod to my laptop using iTunes transfer. I see the three folders I made, plus a wav file called recovered. I pull the folders and the recovered track. You should have heard me scream when I realized the recovered track was the beginning of the main band that I thought was lost!
Not only is the sound quality amazing but the recovery of the lost track, unbelievable. I wish I knew about this app last month. I tried to record the same band on my Galaxy Nexus and it was bad. Clipped and buzzed audio, a useless recording.
I am giving this app 5 stars on the itunes store and similar review.
I'm sorry for the long rant, it just amazed me how great this worked.
Great App

Glad you like it! MultiTrack contains many safety features like this, a lot time has been put into data loss prevention. Unfortunately you had to discover one of these "features", which is wave file recovery. In the event of a rare crash, every attempt is made to preserve data and song structure. If recovery is not possible, the remaining wave files will be moved out of the song and into the shared directory and repaired.

How do you use measurement mode? Is it a sort of automatic gain control thing? Sort of like the Blue Mikey Digital 3 Gain settings?

To turn on Measurement Mode (recommended in most cases for music recording), close MultiTrack and open the Settings app, scroll down and select MultiTrack and toggle the Measurement Mode switch.

Re: Great App
Neither did I! I can't wait to test the hardware gain control on my next band rehearsal. Until now, to keep the levels from clipping, after much trial and error, I have had to put my phone 2 rooms away with the door open and a blanket slightly over the mic.
