Normalisation and noise removal

I have spent some time reading through these forums and can see that I know comparatively very little about audio and recording. This question might therefore sound dumb, but here it is anyway.

In the free "Wave Pad" app for iOS there is the possibility to do normalisation and noise removal. I just wondered why these weren't possible in MultiTrack DAW? Is there something I'm missing here?

There is normalization, when mixing down. Everything else is non-destructive in multitrack, so these types of effects are left out. However it's probably possible with Audiobus (http://audiob.us) and use some kind of effects app on the input or filter, and record it into multitrack already processed.
