Proper Sequence for Connecting Devices w/ MultiTrack

Post by R Anderson »

It appears that the sequence one uses to connect devices to the iPad can make a difference in whether you get a functioning DAW, messages of incompatibility or a piece in the chain drops out.

Headphones, audio interface, programs on/off, camera connector...

Is there a proper sequence to follow?

Thank you!

I always make sure nothing is running in the background (double tap home button, press and hold an app icon at the bottom of the screen until they all start shaking, and tap the X on each one to close them). Next, I plug in headphones/speakers, then the interface/CCK. Some interfaces have direct monitoring, so you can skip the headphone/speakers step.

I also think powering off before starting a session is a good idea. I'm pretty sure it can release some extra RAM, but definitely make sure you close all background apps.

It's also a good idea to put the device into Airplane mode to prevent interruptions from incoming calls or email.
