I've looked through this website and the user doc, but can't find info on how to split a stereo input into two mono tracks.
It says in the iTunes blurb for MultiTrack DAW:
"- Input selection allows splitting stereo input onto 2 mono tracks"
I've seen info on the forum on how to split a recorded stereo track to 2 monos, but not split it on the input, before it is even recorded.
Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure that, when you arm a track for recording, you tap "source". I think the option will be in that menu.

Thanks for your reply, Anorton.
Unfortunately though, there's no option after arming the track and selecting 'Source' to split the tracks.
Anyone else know how to do this?
Thanks

You need to make 2 mono tracks, each with a different channel from the interface.
Do this: make a new track, and tap the "source" button on it, and select a mono channel of your interface. Now make another track, but this time selecting a different mono channel. Arm them both. Now when you record, you will get 2 synced regions.

Re: Splitting stereo input to two mono tracks
Thank you pwnified for your response.
I tried to follow your instructions, but there was no opportunity to select a mono track.
The app that is feeding a stereo signal into MD is Bismark Music2Bus, an Audiobus capable application that I have set as an input in Audiobus. MD is the Audiobus output app.
When I add a new track in MD, I have a choice between the mono ipod microphone input, or the Music2Bus stereo input.
If I choose the microphone input, it automatically creates a mono track.
If I choose Music2Bus as the input, it automatically creates a stereo track, without the option to choose a mono track from the pair.
Am I missing something in the process?
Thanks,
Steve
In case you're wondering how I'm using this, it's a bit aside of the conventional usage for MD.
I'm actually using my ipod/MD as a mixer for live performance, with which I am able to make fine adjustments to a number of inputs (mic, and backing tracks from Music2Bus, to start with, but will be adding ipod-based instruments to this), fine tuning volume balances, adding effects, eq, compression, etc, and generally fine tuning the output for the venue in which I am performing.
Since the output will be going into a single channel of a PA system (it's not a stereo PA), I want a center-mixed monaural signal out from each of the ipod output channels, one of which will feed the PA.
I seek to separate the two left/right panned input stereo tracks of Music2Bus so that I can center-pan them, creating two center-mixed mono tracks in the left and right stereo output channels, only one of which I will ultimately use.
Hope that makes sense.

Re: Splitting stereo input to two mono tracks
The inputs we are talking about are physical mic or line inputs on an audio interface. The Music2bus track with the stereo input was automatically assigned by Audiobus.
So if you had a 2ch audio interface you could have each input record on a separate track in addition to anything coming in through Audiobus.
You can have a stereo track assigned to your Audiobus input and on a separate, (mono) track you could assign the internal mic for voice or to record an acoustic instrument.
I don't think you can record a stereo source in mono through Audiobus though. It's probably best to leave the Music2bus stereo.
