What is this bus and how do I get on it?
I'm hoping this will allow for some additional third-party effects like AutoTune.

AudioBus is great. It'll do what you want as long as AutoTune is updated with the latest AudioBus SDK. Keep in mind, there are quite a few apps not working well with iOS 8 and AudioBus because those apps haven't updated yet. I'm still on iOS 7.1.2 and haven't updated my music apps either. For me, it's all working as it should.
