Max recording duration?

Post by poetickinetics »

Hi, I use my iPhone to record live music, via a DJ mixer and external Blue mic with a line in.
I have a need to record lengthy sets as one continuous recording. Sometimes up to 12 hours at a time.

I have been using another app, Music Studio, however it has a duration limit which doesn't suit my needs. I'm looking to purchase a new replacement app and came across Multitrack DAW. I just wanted to check before I purchase if there are any limitations on the file size/recording length, other than free space available on the phone to save the file.

I run the app on an iPhone 6S, with plenty of memory free.

Cheers :)

Welcome poetickinetics
The max song length is 300 minutes so about 5 hours. So it's more intended as a multitrack for overlaying many parallel tracks and less as a field recorder.

Ok, thanks for your reply.
I now understand that there is a limitation of 4Gb max per file imposed upon WAVs. I believe that Apples CAF file type has no such restrictions, other than the phones own memory resources. Is there any chance of implementing a CAF recording option into a future update? I'd be keen then for sure!

Cheers :)
