Help with Apogee Jam + IOS 5 Fixed!

Post by mcrt »

Ok,i updated the ApogeeJam with the software provided by the manufacturer and...things got even worse, the Jam did not work with any app( GB,DAW,AmpKit). But i did a hard reset on the Ipad and now it works fine with all three.
So if you have problems with IOS 5 and ApogeeJam:
-Update the ApogeeJam software ( available at Apogee Support)
- Hard reset the Ipad if needed.

Worked for me!.

Hi,
I'm trying to use the Apogee Jam with the DAW but no success...the DAW just registers the input from the built in microphone and not the Apogee.
The Apogee works fine with Ampkit software and GarageBand so the problem is not there.

My rig is Guitar----Korg Pandora Multi effects(or AdrenalinnIII)----ApogeeJam----Ipad 2 (5.01)

-Is this rig viable?
-Is there an specific sequence to plug/ turn on the elements of the chain?
-Any specific settings i should use on the DAW?.(auto input, input monitor...)

I have searched the forum but with no luck...i have to admit that i have no experience at all with recording so maybe the answer is there but i just can see it,sorry.
Thanks for any answers!

If you are using headphones with a mic (like the white apple headset) make sure to plug it in first, and then the JAM. With multitrack running, first plugging in the headset, then plugging in the jam, the popup should say "Headphone(1x2)". Unplugging the headset should give "Speaker(1x2)". Both of these configurations will use the jam for input. The only seems to be plugging the headset last, in this case the mic on the headset will override the jam entirely.

Ok thanks,will try that.
But after some googling i've found that IOS 5 and Apogee Jam(or Alesis Dock)do not work together.Apparently IOS 5 has a different sampling rate, maybe you should investigate this because it might be the reason for a lot of hardware problems.

Will try the Apogge Jam software update,if i can find a Mac computer to plug it into...
Sometimes this IOS thingy can be so frustratingly windows like, duh!.

One other thing, if you are using an iPhone and want to use headphones, make sure "Speaker Out" is turned OFF in the menu. With it on, it's going to override the headset/or the jam depending on plugging order.
