The Lexicon Alpha works... almost. In Stereo mode with a microphone plugged in it records in stereo just to the right side (mono microphone). If I set the Alpha to mono, it won't record anything, and won't give me the option of switching to the alternate mono side. Since it doesn't seem like I can "flatten" a stereo track into a mono track, this means I can't record with my Lexicon Alpha.
Not sure why I can't toggle between the two monos (the one with the microphone on it), nor why I can't flatten the stereo track into mono. Works fine in GarageBand, I can select the output just fine, but I'd rather use MultiTrack DAW to record.
Depressing!

Clarification: Cannot switch between mono channels w/ Alpha
To make my previous post clearer: You cannot switch between mono channels in MultiTrack DAW with the Lexicon Alpha. You can just fine in GarageBand for iPad. In mono mode the Alpha outputs to the "right channel" and it seems like MultiTrack DAW will only grab from the "left channel" and will not let me swap them at all.
In stereo mode I just end up with one dead channel and everything on the right, and since I can't seem to flatten stereo tracks into mono it seems---or I just haven't found the appropriate channel topic, I am kind of hosed. My iPad 1 is so slow it makes recording using GarageBand an awful chore, so I'd rather not HAVE to use GB. I'd much rather use MultiTrack DAW. If you could fix this I would be eternally grateful!
