Hi all,
Looking for best practice on recording using a MixPre D. I am recording double system sound for editing in FCP.
With 0 dbu tone sent from the MixPre D, I'm seeing what looks like a low level. Sending the file to FCP with the DAW set with no input level increase, I am seeing -20 for the 0 tone. That seems a little low to me, To get normal editing levels, I am adding in quite a bit of fader.
Is it best to add input level to bring the signal up to a voter level - something like -12?
Thanks,
Bill

I didn't notice anything unusual when using the SD Mic Pre. Works just like it should.
So you're saying that if you run a reference tone in at 0VU on the Mix Pre, it comes into the DAW at -20?
