Multitrack usage and CLIPS

Post by Griffin Avid »

Looking at working with imported clips on the multitrack timeline.
I have a couple of questions. How do I.....

1) Get the clips to snap to precise points on the grid, like bars?
I hoping there is a 'SNAP TO GRID' function/setting somewhere for the cursor. Once I selecta clip and hit edit, I am free to move it around but it slides all over the timeline with no seeming way to drop it exactly where I want to....

2) Extending tracks. In some programs you can grab the end of the clip and it loops itself outward until you stop dragging. In others, you can duplicate or copy at exact spaces like 'every 2 bars'. How do I get a drum loop that is one bar to run for 16 bars in the multitrack?

3) How do I see/change the same name once it's opened? I want to make changes to the title AFTER I've already started laying out and recording music.

For 1) you can turn on "Snap" in the menu.
2) Is a good feature, it's how I started out designing it, but ran into issues. I'm going to revisit this.
3) The only way currently is to close the song and rename it from the menu (touch hold the icon).

The SNAP feature seems to work differently depending on how zoomed in you are.
It seems to lock in place, but when I play the song, it's off by a small amount.

Like, I'd need some kind of "resolution setting" like it matched a quantize like always snap to nearest 16th, 32nd note type deal. So I could drag from afar and know that it's going to lock in to the start of a bar/measure.

Thanks for replying.
