iPod Touch 5th Gen. Mic Delay

Is it common to have a mic delay on the iPod Touch? I have the 5th generation and despite wiping it clean-slate, it still has a delay so that I can't record vocals over audio playback on cue because of bad delay - if I begin to sing, it captures the vocals late is what I mean.
