Why is there a delay in the head phones
So after I record a track and I want to sing over it. My voice in the cans is delayed. It is imposible to use in this condition. For me it renders the whole program useless. Need help urgent any one with any ideas about this??

Try a reboot first. What hardware are you using, which audio interface? Other things to check: Other apps in the background (especially synths that might be running in the background, hogging the buffers at some large size). Background kill all other apps. If using audiobus, start it first, and it will set a 256 buffer size, which all other apps will then conform to.

Re: Why is there a delay in the head phones
I have the same problem with latency while recording and monitoring. Makes the app unusable for me. The second track was way out of time from the scratch track. I tried to correct by editing and moving the track, but that doesn't work well either. I am using a line 6 sonic port connected to my ipad 1. I didn't have the latency issue with other apps (garageband) so i don't think the issue is with the sonic port. I didn't have any other apps running. I will try the reboot, but any other ideas?

Hey Leem,
Can we get more info on your signal chain? what interface you're using, if your using the headphone jack on the ios device or the monitor slot on the interface. Is audiobus involved, etc.

Sur, here you go:
Mixer - rca tape out adapter to stereo line in on Sonic Port - 30 pin cable to ipad - headphones connected to sonic port headphone out
I am just running the DAW app, no other apps or audiobus, recording the signal from the mixer. Pretty simple. I do have the direct monitoring turned on in DAW so i can hear what i amplaying while recording. But the signal in the headphones is almost half a second behind what i am playing. And also the track that gets recorded is way behind the guide track.

Re: Why is there a delay in the head phones
This is probably the iOS latency bug. Some hardware is exhibiting this problem when used with multitrack. The problem is how multitrack is testing for supported samplerates, it does this by testing the hardware when it's first plugged in, but unfortunately, the buffer size gets hosed somehow on specific hardware. The buffer size shoots up to like 20000 frames or so, and causes the latency. What's worse, is that iOS then misreports this size and says it's only 256, which is obviously incorrect. Apologies, the next update has a fix for this issue, which is affecting 3 hardware products so far.
There is a temp workaround that seems to work, however it requires you to get Audiobus. I've just confirmed, that if Audiobus is running before you start multitrack, it will lock the standard buffer size in place (256 frames). This works because Audiobus continues to run in the background, holding the buffersize at the low value. Other apps that run in the background and that also hold a small buffersize, might also work.

Re: Why is there a delay in the head phones
update: after I rebooted, I was able to record with no noticeable latency. although this time I was plugging into the ipad from my mustang III amp with a USB cable to a camera connection kit. I will retest with the Sonic Port. thanks.
