Ordered one to record live. Would like to keep an open thread for tips on using it. Covers hookups between iPAD, the presonus, and a mixer (I plan on using a built in feature of the mixer which lets me output each channel using the channel insert)
Tips on presetup per song, order of hookup, hubs are needed etc...
Thanks in advance!

anything tips are appreciated
I did change the thread heading as the issue I was having was resolved, repurposed it to keep tips coming in.
Thanks fo those who helped me get it working [jseib2293, pwnified, DavePDX]!
DavePDX- I hope you don't mind me quoting your excellent suggestion here:

I use the CCK from Apple with a Belkin F4U020 hub. This works fine for me without powering the hub. I've found that I get the most consistent results by plugging in the headphones last.
Connect the hub to the 1818
Connect the USB from the hub to the CCK
Connect the CCK to the iPad
Launch MultiTrack, wait for it to complete initialization
Connect the headphones to the iPad headphone jack
Turn on Input monitor as needed

Are you recording a gig, and also playing? What specifically are ou doing maybe I can offer suggestions. I record live not with that interface but the ipad setup would be similar

So when you go to arm a track, is the built in ipad mic your only option?
Things to double check: is the camera connection "seated " properly. Try rebooting both presonus and ipad.
Software up to date?

I figured it out- you have to connect using the camera connection kit usb to usb hub using it's uplink cable, in this case a small belkin 4 port 2.0
in otherwords you have to plug the ipad usb adaptor kit into the hubs main usb cable (which usually goes to the PC from the hub mini usb, maybe called the uplink). The the audiobox usb is then plugged into a port on the hub, and then reboot the AudioBox. working on getting the headphones working now.
the ipad i have is the latest one with the small usb connector, not the 30 pin deal
here's a pic- the hub is a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub F5U234v1

Re: Running Tips for recording using Presonus 1818VSL- 8 tra
Setup Song ready to go template -
If you Labeled the inputs on the Presonus...(mine are Aux1, Aux 2, Aux3, Piano, Vocal,, GTR1, Bass, etc...)
If you set the kHz and other settings by default...then
Just go into MT Daw and add a song, then add all 8 tracks. Then rename them to the same labels you did on the presonus. Exit the Song.
Rename the song in the interface to Song Template 8 trks (or whatever), then reselect it and choose the zip.
Each time you need a song with those pre-named tracks, just click the zip file, MT Daw will create the new song which you can then re-name. This makes it much easier to remember which inputs to choose for which tracks)

Re: Running Tips for recording using Presonus 1818VSL- 8 tra
Anyone try this setup (usb into camera kit on iPad2) on the presonus new VSL 44 ? I can't get an input signal even though at bootup MT DAW recognizes the vsl 44 mono inputs. Any suggestions?
