Alesis io/4 and iPad 2

Post by LucLuc31 »

Hi All, I'm new on this forum!
I have an Alesis io/4 interface and an iPad2 with this CCK.
I'm able to record 4 track at one time and all is OK.

BUT, the only problem is that I cannot connect the power supply to the iPad, meaning that if I connect to C.Connection Kit also the micro USB for power, on the Alesis the USB LED will turn off and there is no audio connection with the iPad.
So I can have as the only available recording time of the internal charge of the iPad.
Now I got this, which should be more specific, but I'm still waiting for it.

I was wondering if there is anyone on this forum who can give me a hint.

Thanks in advance,
LM

I went through the exact thing as well, unfortunately I don't think it's possible, but would love to be wrong about that. It seems that when the iPad is in USB Host mode, required for audio interfaces to work, it can't be charging. And as soon as you connect the sync cable (for power), it kicks the iPad out of USB host mode.

Hi pwnified and thanks for your reply.
I agree with you, but what about this Alesis IO/MIX?
In the Key features (the last point) you can find "Power supply also charges your iPad

", and there is inside the same 30 pin connector.... :(

You can charge while connected to certain USB devices that connect to the 30 pin that support charging, such as the iO Dock and the iO Mix. Just not with any known camera connector kit, and not with the iPad 4 so far.
