Looping Questions

I'm quite experienced with all features of DAW, but remain slightly confused re Loop function.

How is it designed to be used -- in playback, or in recording?

I frequently want to create loops from vocal clips -- for example, two bars of beatbxing. Can I use Loop for this? I try to use copy and paste, but don't have enough definition to line things up perfectly, find zero crossings, etc.

IMO, it is easiest when you've recorded the beatboxing using the metronome click, then when editing, the measures should line up with the audio and you can use "snap" to slice right on the loop points.
