Unable to connect via WiFi
I have Multitrack on an ipad, and a PC running Win7, both connected via a WiFi router (BT Homehub3). The browser on the PC is unable to connect with the WiFi address given by Multitrack, worse, I am unable to ping the ipad from the PC using a command console, which reports "destination unreachable". The address given by Multitrack seems to be correct, in that it is the address of the ipad as issued by the DHCP server in the router. At this point my networking skills are exhausted, is there some router setting needed to enable two WiFi connected devices to communicate? Please help.

Re: Unable to connect via WiFi
There's a setting on most broadband routers which allows or denies communication between local devices. Years ago the default was 'deny' but that had changed in recent years. Can you log onto your router and check?
You will rarely be able to ping - routers and devices tend to block all ICMP requests (which includes ping).
Make sure you are using the correct syntax on your browser for connecting to MT DAW. It's usual to use a colon for the port, but sometimes it is another character. Usually there should be no spaces. Try adding the 'http://' before the address - your browser may do something odd like assume its FTP because you have a port added.

Wow! I learn something new everyday. Thanks Dominic, that's good to know. I've been hesitant to try the WiFi transfer.
Although I never thought of using my colon as a port for ping (pee-ing).
Man, I could do this all day.

Re: Unable to connect via WiFi
Wifi transfer in MT DAW is excellent. Allows quick and easy access to all the recorded material, not just the mixdown, and means you don't need your own computer with iTunes to transfer stuff to a studio computer. Very handy indeed.martygras wrote:Wow! I learn something new everyday. Thanks Dominic, that's good to know. I've been hesitant to try the WiFi transfer.

Re: Unable to connect via WiFi
Thanks for the suggestions, the router has no setting to control comms between wifi devices. Since posting, I have found that the ability to ping, and connect to the MT web page, is intermittent. The problem seems to be associated with the PC's wifi dongle, so I plan use homeplugs instead. Thanks again for the help.
