Question: compressor ratio control.

Post by MoltenBlob »

Hi,
New user to the forum.
I'm loving the new update. It motivated me to upgrade to 24 tracks. With eq and comp. On every track I have good reason to keep instruments separated. When I figure out this soundcloud thingy I'll post some stuff up.

I have a question about the compressor ratio control. I'm familiar with dialing in a ratio value like 2:1 or 4:1 but the dial is from 0 to 1 . It seems that 0 is like a hard limiter and 1 is no compression? Would .5 be 2:1 and .25 be 4:1 ??

Thanks for any advise.

Yes thats correct, any signal over the threshold level will be reduced by that factor. So yes 0.5 is like 2:1 and 0.25 is like 4:1 but you get much finer grained control between these settings, instead of just snapping between those two settings.
