Ghost sounds after editing song

Post by lorhal »

Has anybody experienced this?

After doing some editing on a song, there are residual bits of the track that still plays, even after muting all tracks?!?!

Here is an example:
This is the song with everything muted.

This is the original track

Ghost bits occur at :57 and :59

At first I thought it was due to importing tracks from AmpliTube, but this is all recorded straight into MT.

I'm experiencing the same thing from time to time. I thought it had to do with AmpliTube as well, but there goes that theory. In MultiTrack's song menu, rename the song as "Flushcaches!" (don't include the quotation marks). That takes care of it.

Yeah. I got the same thing yesterday. I muted all tracks, and there were some soundbits. I went on to make a new project as I couldn't get rid of them. I've got a 2:nd gen Ipod Touch and I was wondering if this could have something to do with the multitask difference of this one and the later gen:s.

But renaming the song to: Flushcaches!

I havn't tried that.

I tried to delete all unused files, but that didn't work.

It seems to be a problem with the low level file system and the way it caches parts of the read/write file. Certain iOS version seem to be good but then the problem has returned. I'll take a closer look at this. The song rename to "flushcaches!" will rebuild the caches and fix the problem, but you may get dropouts when playing back until the caches are finished rebuilding (give it a couple minutes after opening the song)

so i'm currently having this same issue - i've tried flushing the cahces using the "flush caches" browser button at the bottom of the Wi-Fi song menu and also i tried renaming the project to Flushcaches (no '!' needed in there btw) - and still i have these weird glitching bursts of samples that will play in spots even if all tracks are muted (or if i move all the sounds away from that spot in time where glitch bursts are occuring). i'm on an iPad 2, 8gig - ios 4.3.1...

here's a link to a snippet of the glitched version with all tracks non-muted:
http://www.apaxsoftware.com/clients/apa ... aches1.wav
and a link to a snippet of the glitched version with all tracks muted:
http://www.apaxsoftware.com/clients/apa ... lmute1.wav

this is kind of really a messy bug... any other ideas on how this can be fixed?

Please try renaming the song exactly:
flushcaches!

It wont actually rename the song, so if the song doesn't rename, then you know you did it right. You might have to cancel the spelling autocorrect. You wont actually see any user feedback that it was renamed correctly. Open and rewind the song after this and give it a few minutes to rebuild. Again apologies, it seems to be a worse problem on the iPad2.

@pwnified - thanks for responding! so i tried your suggestion and at first it didn't work. second i rearranged some clips around in the problem area, moving them away from that problem spot. after that i tried the rename song to flushcaches! method again and the ghost glitch seemed to go away. hope this helps for any other user with a persistant version of this problem...
